What is a Chiikawa POP UP STORE?
A POP UP STORE (ポップアップストア) is a temporary Chiikawa shop that opens for a set period, usually one to a few weeks, in the event space of a department store, mall or station. They often sell goods you can’t easily find elsewhere, such as event-limited items.
- Dates, floor and hours differ by venue, and hours on the first and last days are often different from the rest.
- If you just want Chiikawa goods on any day, the permanent shops (Chiikawa Land and others) are easier to plan around.

How entry usually works
On busy days, especially the opening days, many venues use free numbered tickets (整理券) that you get online or through LINE in advance. After the ticket days end, many venues switch to free entry, but rules differ by venue.
- Tickets are often first come, first served, with a set entry time. Some venues say a ticket expires a while (for example, an hour) after its entry time.
- Some venues check a photo ID that matches the name on the ticket; others don’t mention ID. Bringing your passport is the safe bet.
- Per-person purchase limits are common for popular items. When it’s crowded, venues may also stop letting people in before closing time.
- Whether you can get LINE or online tickets from outside Japan depends on the venue. Read the official notice before your trip.
