Momonga: all-out cute, all-out demanding (voice, first episode, Dekatsuyo)
Based on Chiifan’s Japanese character article, which checks the official anime and movie character pages. Translated on Oct 11, 2026.
Momonga is the white one with round ears and a big tail striped in light blue, drawn a little bigger than Chiikawa and friends. Both official profiles agree on one thing: Momonga puts everything into looking cute, and keeps asking for things, even unreasonable ones. Momonga mostly drops into everyday episodes and stirs things up, rather than starring in a long arc. Here is what is confirmed, and where fans’ theories begin.

What kind of character is Momonga?
The anime site: “always acting cute, and asks for all sorts of things.” The movie site goes further: Momonga is obsessed with being cute and troubles everyone with unreasonable demands.
- Few characters get described this bluntly. Yet Momonga is hard to dislike, because every disappointment when a demand fails is drawn just as honestly.
- In the long stories, Momonga turns up in the Siren Arc (Island Arc), near the start of the trip to the island and near the end when leaving it. The reading page is in Japanese, but you only need to scroll: Nagano’s X posts are lined up from top to bottom in order, 10 per page, and the 「次のページ」 (Next page) button at the bottom takes you on.
When does Momonga first appear in the anime?
In the second half of Ep. 25 「カルメ焼き／ついにやったゾ」, aired on Sept 16, 2022. Momonga shows up already in full cute mode.
- When the episode aired, voice actor Yuka Iguchi said she saw Momonga as the most childlike, spoiled character, one who wants to be adored. That is her reading, not an official profile.
- When Momonga was first drawn in Nagano’s posts, and which book volume that is in, we could not confirm.

Momonga and Dekatsuyo: what is shown, and what fans think
Fans widely read it as a swap: something that was once big and strong is now inside Momonga’s cute body (“borrowing” it, or the two having “switched”). That is a fan theory; what the two really are to each other has not been explained.
- What is shown: in anime Ep. 27 「泳ごう／返せ」 (the second title means “give it back”), Dekatsuyo chases after Momonga. What is supposed to be given back has not been said.
- On the official shop, Momonga and Dekatsuyo are separate characters, and Momonga’s official profile never mentions Dekatsuyo.
