Where to read the Chiikawa manga (and how to read each story arc in order)

Arc list built from our story pages; book details checked on Kodansha’s site (2026-10-01).

Chiikawa is a comic that its creator, Nagano, posts on X (formerly Twitter) at @ngnchiikawa. The short strips add up to long stories. Chiifan, an unofficial fan site, lines up Nagano’s posts for 20 long story arcs, from the first post to the last, so you can binge-read each one in order.

Where can I read Chiikawa?

Nagano publishes the comic on X at @ngnchiikawa, and anyone can read the posts there. It is also collected in Japanese books from Kodansha.

  • On X, new strips appear one at a time, mixed in with everyday episodes and announcements, so long stories are hard to follow from the timeline alone.
  • That’s why Chiifan collects the posts of each long story in order. Our pages show Nagano’s original posts as X embeds; we do not copy or store the comic images.
  • Chiikawa barely speaks, and much of the story is told through expressions and gestures, so you can follow it fairly well even if you don’t read Japanese.

Each link opens a page with the arc’s posts in the order they were posted, 10 per page. Counts are the number of Nagano’s posts we collected, not an official episode count.

  • The arc names are Chiifan’s translations of the names commonly used in Japanese. There are no official English titles, and the original posts have no chapter titles.
  • “Vol.” is the Kodansha volume that contains the arc, or part of it (shown only where we confirmed it; long arcs can span volumes). “anime” means the arc has been adapted in the anime.

Where should I start?

Each arc can be read on its own. If you’ve seen the movie, start with the Siren Arc (96 posts, the longest story). For a quick first read, try an arc with around 10 posts.

  • Our pages are in Japanese, but the comic itself is the same post you would see on X. Just scroll down to read in order.
  • We don’t summarize endings here, so you can read without spoilers.

Books (tankobon)

Kodansha publishes the comic as “Chiikawa: Nanka Chiisakute Kawaii Yatsu” (Japanese). Volume 1 came out on Feb 12, 2021 and Volume 8 on Nov 21, 2025.

  • The Siren Arc is collected in full in Volume 8.
  • Volume 9 is scheduled for Nov 20, 2026 according to Kodansha.
  • We have only checked the Japanese editions; this page doesn’t cover translated editions.

The anime

The anime airs in Japan on Fuji TV’s morning show “Mezamashi TV” every Tuesday and Friday (around 7:38 JST from Oct 2, 2026). From Oct 2 to Dec 25, 2026 it shows reruns of popular past episodes; new episodes are scheduled to return in January 2027. In Japan, episodes have been available to stream for a week after broadcast on YouTube, FOD and TVer.

  • Several long arcs have been animated; our anime page shows which episodes match which arc.
  • We have not checked whether these catch-up services are available outside Japan.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I read the Chiikawa manga for free?

On Nagano’s official X account, @ngnchiikawa. Chiifan’s story pages show those posts in order for each long arc.

Can I read Chiikawa without knowing Japanese?

Often, yes. The strips have little text and Chiikawa hardly speaks, so expressions and actions carry most of the story. Some jokes and signs are in Japanese.

How many episodes does Chiikawa have?

There is no official episode count. Chiifan lists the number of Nagano’s posts in each arc instead (for example, the Siren Arc is 96 posts on our page).

What order should I read Chiikawa in?

Each long arc can be read on its own. Within an arc, read the posts in the order they were posted, which is the order on our pages.

Which volume is the Chiikawa movie based on?

The movie is based on the Siren Arc, collected in full in Volume 8.
