What is the Black Shooting Star Arc about? (no spoilers)

It starts as an ordinary Chiikawa day. One night Chiikawa and Hachiware share freshly baked bread beside flowers glowing with blue flames. Later, Hachiware passes on a rumor: wishing on a black shooting star makes the wish come true, but you may not feel good about it afterward.

• Chiikawa oversleeps and is very late to meet Hachiware, so it buys a louder alarm clock. Then comes a lively day with Usagi: taking photos of each other, playing rock-paper-scissors.
• The next morning, Chiikawa wakes up and starts living a day it has already lived. The scenes are the same, yet Chiikawa’s reactions and the rock-paper-scissors results shift a little each time.
• What happens from there, and whether the days ever move on, is best found in the comic or the anime.

The story clearly connects the night of the shooting star with the repeating day, but it never explains the mechanism.

Which volume and which anime episodes?

The Black Shooting Star Arc is in Volume 5 of the Japanese books (Kodansha). In the anime it spans episodes 213 to 235: two lead-in episodes, then “Part 1” (前編) and “Part 2” (後編).

“The Black Shooting Star Story / Standing Soba”: Hachiware tells the rumor. The second half is a different story.

“Dinner Roll”: the bread night, which is the first post of the original. The anime places it after the rumor episode.
