Rakko: the No. 1 tobatsu ranker everyone admires

Rakko is the fluffy cream-colored one with small dark-brown ears, a star mark on the forehead, a white cloth around the neck, and usually a sword. Next to Chiikawa and friends, Rakko looks a little more grown-up. The official profiles mix the cool and the cozy in equal measure: the strongest tobatsu (monster-hunting) ranker, who also loves sweets and drives a car. Here is what is confirmed, and the episodes where Rakko shines.

What kind of character is Rakko?
The anime site: “good at tobatsu and strong; the one Chiikawa and friends look up to.” The movie site calls Rakko the ranker who shines at No. 1 in the tobatsu ranking, sworn to “get stronger,” with a sweet tooth and a driver’s license.
- Rakko is a teacher figure in the Gekokujo (Turning the Tables) Arc, where Chiikawa and Hachiware aim to become top rankers (anime ep. 302–303, 324–329, 343–344). The reading page is in Japanese, but you only need to scroll: Nagano’s X posts are lined up from top to bottom in order, 10 per page, and the 「次のページ」 (Next page) button at the bottom takes you on.
- In the Siren Arc, the story behind the 2026 movie, Rakko is suspicious of the flyer but sails to the island with the trio.
When does Rakko first appear?
In the anime, Ep. 51 「虫、ギチギチ／危なかった・・・な」 on Mar 24, 2023: Rakko arrives as a “savior” in front of Chiikawa, who is terrified of a big bug. When Rakko was first drawn in Nagano’s posts, we could not confirm.

The ranking lists tobatsu results, and the movie profile puts Rakko at No. 1. How it is counted, and since when Rakko has been first, has not been explained.
- Top rankers can put a mark of their own face on their weapon; in Ep. 53, Chiikawa and Hachiware dream of that.
- A Japanese film site (Real Sound) explains that the face mark on Rakko’s sword hilt shows a place in the top four.
- In a movie interview, Nagano says the film’s action scenes may convey Rakko’s strength in a way the comic rarely could.

Rakko and the two “students”
