Chiikawa watch order: manga → anime → movie
Arc order from our story pages; places to watch checked on Oct 11, 2026; Korean box office as reported on Oct 12, 2026.
Want to follow Chiikawa all the way through? You can start anywhere, but we suggest starting with the original: the manga Nagano posts on X, then the anime based on it, then the movie based on the Siren Arc. This unofficial fan page lists the 21 long story arcs in the order they started, with where to read or watch each part. No spoilers.
- 1. Manga
- Nagano’s X @ngnchiikawa (free), Japanese books from Kodansha
- 2. Anime
- Short episodes since 2022. In Korea: Netflix (Japanese audio, Korean subtitles) and AniBox’s YouTube (Korean dub)
- 3. Movie
- Adapts the Siren Arc (Vol. 8). In Korean theaters from Sep 30, 2026
- Story arcs
- 21, each readable in order on Chiifan
The short answer: manga, then anime, then the movie
The manga is the original, the anime adapts several of its stories, and the movie adapts one long arc. Following that order lets you meet each story in its original form first. Any order works, though: the anime and the movie are easy to follow on their own.
- Short on time? Watch the movie first, then read its source, the Siren Arc.
- Prefer to listen? Start with the anime (there is a Korean dub), then read the arcs it covers.

- Arc names are fan names translated by Chiifan; the original posts have no arc titles. Counts are the posts we collected, not an official episode count.
- Some arcs ran on and off over a long time, so their start dates overlap.
- “Still running” means new posts are still being added (Shisa’s License Arc).
Step 2: the anime
The anime started in Japan in 2022 and has adapted 16 of the long arcs so far, along with everyday episodes. In South Korea you can watch it on Netflix (Japanese audio with Korean subtitles) and as a Korean dub on the official AniBox YouTube playlist.
- Netflix groups several short episodes into one, so its “episode 1” is not the Japanese episode 1.
- Our anime page has a table of which anime episodes match which arc.
Step 3: the movie
『映画ちいかわ 人魚の島のひみつ』 (“The Secret of Mermaid Island”) adapts the Siren Arc, the longest arc (96 posts), collected in full in Vol. 8 of the Japanese books. It opened in Korea on Sep 30, 2026, and Korean media put admissions at 1,281,482 as of Oct 11 (KOBIS figures).
Where to start if you only have a little time
The shortest arc we list is Pitfall Arc (7 posts). The Muchauman Arc (10 posts) is another quick, light read.
