What is the story about? (no spoilers)
Swollen from mosquito bites, Kurimanju takes a photo with Hachiware and Shisa. Later, the two come across a night festival, and at the end of the dancing crowd, the one enshrined as the god of fortune is Kurimanju.
- The festival people take the swollen shape for the god of fortune’s own shape, and Kurimanju’s feet are fastened to the floor, so it can’t simply leave.
- Hachiware and Shisa try to get Kurimanju out without the festival people noticing. Whether the plan works is for you to read.
What isn’t explained
The story shows the festival in detail, but leaves a lot unsaid.
- Who the festival people are, and where they usually live.
- How long the festival has been held, and who made the big statue behind the platform.
- Some fans say the festival people’s faces resemble Okame (a traditional Japanese good-luck mask), but this is not stated in the story.
Who appears in it?
Kurimanju, who (according to the movie’s official character page) holds an alcohol qualification and enjoys every kind of drink and snack, is the center of this story. Hachiware and Shisa are the rescue team, and Chiikawa appears at the end.
